Ingredients

  • For the Beef Patties:
  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 fat ratio for juiciness)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional, for extra flavor)
  • For Assembling the Cheeseburgers:
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (or any preferred cheese)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for toasting buns)
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1 large tomato, sliced
  • ½ small red onion, sliced
  • 4 pickle slices (optional)
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Beef Patties

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce (if using).
  2. Gently mix until just combined—avoid over-mixing to keep the patties juicy.
  3. Divide the beef mixture into 4 equal portions and shape them into patties about ½ inch thick.
  4. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

Step 2: Cook the Patties

Grilling Method:

  1. Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (375-400°F / 190-200°C).
  2. Lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking.
  3. Place the patties on the grill and cook for 4-5 minutes per side until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C) for well-done burgers.
  4. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheese on each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.

Stovetop Method:

  1. Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and lightly grease it with oil.
  2. Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side until fully cooked.
  3. Add the cheese slice in the last minute and cover the pan to help it melt.

Step 3: Toast the Burger Buns

  1. Spread a little butter on the inside of each bun.
  2. Toast the buns on the grill or in a pan over medium heat for 1-2 minutes, until golden brown.

Step 4: Assemble the Cheeseburgers

  1. Spread mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard on the bottom half of each bun.
  2. Add lettuce, a tomato slice, and onion slices on top.
  3. Place the cheesy beef patty on top of the veggies.
  4. Add pickle slices (if using) and top with the other half of the bun.

Step 5: Serve and Enjoy

  1. Serve immediately with French fries, onion rings, or a side salad.
  2. Enjoy your juicy homemade cheeseburger with your favorite beverage!
