Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2-3 green cardamom pods (crushed)
  • A few saffron strands (optional)
  • 1 liter whole milk
  • 1/4 cup condensed milk (optional, for richness)
  • 2-3 tablespoons sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  • A few saffron strands (soaked in 1 tablespoon warm milk)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Rabri:
  • In a heavy-bottomed pan, bring the milk to a boil.
  • Reduce the heat to low and simmer, stirring frequently, until the milk reduces to about 1/3 of its original volume.
  • Add condensed milk (if using), sugar, cardamom powder, and saffron milk. Mix well and cook for another 5-7 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and set aside to cool.
  1. Make the Sugar Syrup:
  • In a pan, combine sugar and water. Heat until the sugar dissolves completely.
  • Add crushed cardamom and saffron. Boil for 2-3 minutes until slightly sticky. Turn off the heat and set aside.
  1. Prepare the Bread Slices:
  • Cut the bread slices into triangles or squares.
  • Heat ghee in a frying pan. Fry the bread pieces on medium heat until golden and crisp on both sides. Remove and drain on paper towels.
